Dyan Marie Bio
Dyan Marie is an early innovator in the field of digital imagery. She works in photography, text and sculpture and community-based projects that respond to urban situations with public art, curating, walking systems, publications, banner projects, community initiatives, festivals and poetry projects. A founder of C Magazine, Cold City Gallery, Walk Here, Dupont Projects, DIG IN, BIG: Bloor Improvement Group and the BIG and the BIG On Bloor Festival, she is the recipient of a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and the City Soul award from the Canadian Urban Institute among others honours from city, provincial and federal government.
Dyan Marie has taught sculpture, digital image making and community art practice on a university level. She has exhibited locally and internationally, is in the collection of private, corporate and institutional collections including: Museum of Contemporary Art, Ghent, Belgium, Museum of London, London, Ontario, National Gallery Of Canada, Ottawa, University of Leithbridge Gallery, Leithbridge, Alberta, University of Toronto, Toronto, Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver and lectures frequently on her work and on city advancement through cultural programming.
